Sew for Hope Kids February Dates

Thanks to our donors and volunteers, we got off to a very good start in January. We made great progress with the Pre-K naptime coverlets for PAEC. We need 45 blankets total, so we’ll spend the next two meetings continuing to work on those. If you’d like to make a blanket or two at home with your own fabric, the instructions are at the link below. These are not quilts, they’re simply two layers of fabric stitched together. The deadline to get those into our hands is Saturday, May 6. If you plan on making PAEC blankets, please let me know so we can add them into our count.

The Saturday meetings in February are 2/4 & 2/18

Reminder – New time: 10am – 4pm with lunch from 11:30 – 12:30
Thank you to ARTS After School for giving us a home, and thank you to Donna Dye for delivering more “solid” cotton fabric for us to work with. Making 45 whole cloth blankets takes a lot of fabric. Thanks to Donna we’re able to continue our mission in a bright and color-coordinated way. Thank you also to our talented volunteers who show up to sew. A room full of fabric doesn’t do us any good if no one shows up to use it.
In March, if we’ve completed the PAEC project, we’ll finish up some quilts that need work before they can be donated to kids at HOPE. We receive many quilt tops, both finished and unfinished that need completion. While it’s more fun to start a project, getting them finished and into the hands of children is very rewarding. If you have a quilt top that’s been ignored and unfinished for way too long, please consider donating it to Sew for Hope Kids. It’s a great way to let go of the guilt that an unfinished project can cause you.
We could also use some poly-pellets for our weighted therapy blankets. If you have some left over from a project you were working on, please consider donating them to us. Any amount will do.
That’s it for now, except —
Thanks for all you do,
