Dear Friends;

As many of you know, Sew for Hope is a group of people who meet for sewing fellowship with a philanthropic purpose. We make quilts for children housed at the HOPE Community’s homeless shelter. We also make quilts for Sleep in Heavenly Peace, an organization that provides beds for children who have none, and we make and give flannel nap-time coverlets to the Pre-K Program run by the Panhandle Area Educational Consortium (PAEC). This program assists migrant farm workers in Quincy.

We meet on the first and third Saturday of each month at Stephen Lutheran Church, 2198 N Meridian Road. In May, these dates are the 7th and 21st. We start at 10 am and close up at 2 pm.  We break for lunch around 11:30. Please bring: brown bag lunch, name tag, show and tell, and portable sewing machine. Don’t forget your bobbins and your power cord. Please only those who have been immunized against COVID may participate.

During our last three meetings we had fun making scrappy 12 ½” Log Cabin quilt blocks and 6 ½” Crumb Blocks. If you found that process enjoyable and would like to continue, it would be great to finish what was started. We also have an almost endless variety of projects that can be worked on and perhaps completed. We have lots of scraps, cut squares, cut strips, quilt blocks, and unfinished quilt tops to work on.

If you’d like to give us a try, we’re an open and friendly group. We do not expect nor examine quilts for perfection. Kids in crisis or poverty are not looking to see if your points line up. On the other hand, we do want the quilts and blankets solidly constructed so they won’t fall apart in the laundry. Kids are looking for colors they like, or themed quilts with dogs, dinosaurs, dolls, you name it.

Thank you to all our talented volunteers and generous supporters. We could not do it without you.

Thanks for all you do,

Cynthia and her Sewing Sisters
