My dearest sewing buddies,
During these Dog Days of Summer in August we will be keeping cool and meeting on the 3rd and the 17th from 10:00 am – 3:00 pm at St. Stephen Lutheran Church located at 2198 North Meridian Road. Bring your lunch to enjoy and your projects for Show and Tell at noon. Stay as long as you like, leave when you must. Most of us think about the Dog Days as being a time when we must endure extreme heat and humidity. The origin of the idea goes back to ancient Greek astronomy. The Dog Star, Sirius, rises with the sun in late summer. It was this proximity of star to sun that was blamed for scorching heat. Today we know the heat has more to do with the tilt of the Earth, but for whatever reason it’s wonderful to gather with friends in a nice, cool space. Join us! We love to see new faces!! This month we will continue on our projects, working on PAEC blankets, and cutting remnants. It’d be great to have someone evaluate the squares we’re amassing to create kits. The new shelves/cubbies are still on the radar, and I’ve asked hubby to evaluate what we’ll have to do to secure them to the cinder block wall. If y’all have ideas, I’m all ears! Looking forward to seeing you on Saturday. Wearing sunscreen and gulping water, |
