Greetings!
This month we will meet only on November 2nd from 10:00 am – 3:00 pm at St. Stephen Lutheran Church located at 2198 North Meridian Road. Bring your lunch to enjoy and your projects for Show and Tell at noon. Stay as long as you like, leave when you must.
Remember the North Florida Fair is November 7 – 17. Be sure the check out the Home Department in Building #4 and see some wonderful quilts and all sorts of other textile items.
At the risk of being “cliché” this month, I want to share a few thoughts about my being thankful. Do you get a warm, fuzzy feeling in your heart when you think about Sew for Hope? I sure do, and I know why this happens: we have a fantastic group. Period. It is rare to have a collection of caring people from so many walks of life like we do. I won’t name names for fear of leaving out someone, but we are blessed with people who donate portions of their own fabric stashes to fashion quilts for the special children we serve; people who are dedicated to make blankets for children with a particular need in our community; people who show up nearly every Saturday we meet to share their skills and talents in quilt making; people who are patient to sort through the piles of donated scraps and make kits even at home; people who donate money when there are particular needs to be met; people who spend hours and their own resources at home to actually quilt the blankets; people who are willing to stand at an ironing board for most of a Saturday to help in the process; and people who bind the quilts to finish them.
The common thread is a respectful, loving bond fostering a deep connection with each other. I am so very grateful for the laughter, the service, and devotion to S4H of every one of you! I pray your Thanksgiving season is likewise filled with blessings.
Sending extra hugs,
